John Kerns is a dynamic musician, songwriter, and producer who turns every performance into a full-band experience. Performing often as a soloist, Kerns uses guitars, foot-percussion stomp boxes, looping pedals, and multiple microphones, he layers intricate textures into original songs and covers, captivating audiences from intimate bars, outdoor festivals and church events.
A lifelong musician, Kerns comes from a deeply musical family. After earning a BA in Music Performance from Gustavus Adolphus College, he built a career as a performer, composer, and educator. He has created and recorded music for corporate clients, led worship for 25 years at Spirit Garage, and collaborated with artists like Jonathan Rundman, Scott Laurent, Jambalaya, and Natalie Lovejoy.
John's current projects include Kerns and the Hemispheres (originals), West on Wellesley (Covers), The Tree House Scholars (a virtual pandemic band), Sir Psycho (a Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute), The Bazillions (a kid-friendly rock band), and Acoustic Rock for Kids.
